Our Philosophy
We at Dog Works have committed ourselves to improving the bond between dogs and their owners through dog training and behavior programs that are relevant to family life. Our teaching philosophy addresses the differing strengths, weaknesses and goals of each dog and handler team. Our programs are designed to be flexible, comprehensive and importantly, easy to implement. Our goal is to help you develop your dog into the pet that represents the ideal dog for your family. We hope to work with all family members to improve your dogs’ behavior with everyone and help you dog fully participate in your family life. WE want your dog to be the dog you know he can be.
Dog training is not something you do to your dog. “Training” is teaching and an opportunity to build a strong, positive relationship based on mutual understanding and respect. Our curriculum includes “Situational Training” exercises that help make training part of life, not something that happens in training class or practice sessions. We strongly believe that our leadership role is easy to most dogs to accept if we are a strong and Benevolent Alpha. Respect must be mutual, leadership based in teaching guidance not on reprimands and force.
