In the 1990's, Old Mother Hubbard (OMH) began working with a team of animal nutrition experts, veterinarians and scientists to develop a food that would revolutionize the pet food industry. The result was Wellness, a uniquely formulated holistic pet food made primarily with human grade ingredients. Wellness dog foods were introduced in 1997 and cat foods were added to the line in 2000.
The Wellness formula instantly created a revolution in the pet food industry by taking a holistic approach that incorporates human grade deboned chicken and fish, hormone-free lamb, healthy grains, and fresh fruits and vegetables.Containing only whole foods, with no meat by-products, preservatives, fillers, or artificial colors and flavors, Wellness continues to represent a new generation in pet food.

We believe that cats and dogs have different nutritional needs - because cats are carnivores and dogs are omnivores. For cats, we create diets from animal food sources, berries, and other highly digestible ingredients with low magnesium and ash levels. This ensures overall well being, vitality, and urinary tract health. For dogs, we create balanced diets similar to high quality human diets - a healthy blend of meats, vegetables, and grains.For special diets, such as weight management diets for dogs, or hairball diets for cats, we add carefully selected ingredients such as nutrient-rich fibers. We never use "fillers" and always look for additional ingredient benefits such as higher levels of vitamins and minerals that are available in some fiber sources.

Our highest priority is providing you and your animal companions with consistently safe, premium-quality natural food and treats for dogs and cats.Our Quality Assurance program maintains the strictest standards of food safety in the pet food business, one that exceeds Food and Drug Administration and Association of American Feed Control Officials standards for pet food. Here at Wellness, we follow the same strict guidelines for pet food that are applied to food for people. We do so by mandating all of our suppliers to be in the F.D.A. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) program, adhering to even more stringent quality criteria than required for pet food.
